Polytheism
Polytheism is the belief or worshipping of more than one God. There are many polytheistic religions including Hinduism, Taoism, Shintoism and Mahayana Buddhism, just to name some. And all in all polytheism is the opposite of monotheism which is the worshipping of only one god, as their names say since mono is used to refer to one and poly is used when referring to multiple. |
Hinduism
Hinduism is a polytheism religion with over one billion followers which makes it the third largest religion in the world by population. Hinduism is prominent in India, as it is India's major religion. Since Hinduism is a polytheism religion it has many Gods or divinities, some of them are Brahma, who is known as the creator, Saraswathi, the Hindu Goddess of music, knowledge and all the creative arts, and Shiva, the destructor. The main sacred text of the Hinduism religion is the Vadas. Hinduism originated in India and has no known founder. Most Hindus have a shrine in their homes where they worship, pray, everyday, but that does not mean that Hindus don't have temples where they can go and pray, which are called Mandir. Hindus are not buried, instead they are cremated and if your family can afforded you are cremated in the Ganges river.
